CSIR ICC launches new exhibition hall with first-ever display of large vehicles.
The newly commissioned Exhibition Hall of the CSIR International Convention Centre (ICC) was used for the first time this month when it successfully hosted an exhibition of large coaches and related products alongside the South African Bus Operators Association (SABOA) annual congress.

A test to check that the exhibition hall and ramp was ready to accommodate such large vehicles was conducted in early February when a 13-metre luxury coach, the largest available, was driven up the ramp and into the exhibition hall. It proved to be a daunting experience for the ICC staff, professional team and the building contractors to watch the bus make its way up the ramp and into the building. As described by Bronwen Cadle, ICC Marketing and Sales Manager: “It is one thing to have the plans on paper but one is not totally at ease until you actually see the final product work the way it should.” The venture proved to be successful, and the Centre Management were satisfied that the hall and all supporting services were ready to host an exhibition of this nature and the opening exhibition was given to the SABOA congress.

The Convention Centre will shortly be taking occupation of all their new facilities. The Centre has an impressive new modern façade, the 1000 square metres carpeted, air-conditioned exhibition hall which comfortably accommodates 57 exhibition stands is now in use and the outdoor deck and other new modern facilities are almost complete and ready for use.

Vista Photographic Solutions was commissioned to capture the space of the new venue. The fact that large vehicles can fit in this hall was very important to show along with professional photographs of the rest of the exhibition and catering facilities.
