Virtual Tours – 360° Panoramic Photography
Virtual tour photography has become a popular visual medium among architects, hotels, lodges, guesthouses, accommodation facilities, retail shopping centres and real estate brokers to name a few. It is a fantastic way to bring a wider picture to a viewer. Still photography and virtual tours are two separate mediums and for good reason. The idea is not for virtual tours to replace still photography but rather to compliment it. This way a viewer can see a 360° panoramic view of a specific area.
For example in the real estate world the buyer can view the virtual tour and get a better idea of the property and its layout. Individual areas can be done but the best way is to show the flow of one area into another. Perhaps the dining room and kitchen areas are situated next to one another. With a normal still photograph the area could seem cramped and the actual size of the room can be misleading, making some rooms appear smaller than they actually are. Therefore with careful placement the two areas can be shown how they function together. Still photographs will then cater for other creative angles and perhaps some close ups for more detail.
